Ghpage.com reported yesterday that Lawyer Tony Lithur has filed for divorce against his wife, Nana Oye Lithur. Although we didn’t disclose what was his reasons for demanding for the divorce, we now have an update.
Tony Lithur is one of the outstanding lawyers we have in Africa. He was one of the main lawyers who led NDC and it’s leader, John Dramani Mahama to victory in 2012 during the election petition at the supreme court filed by Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Tony Lithur is married to Madam Nana Oye Lithur, an equally prominent human rights lawyer in Africa. She was the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection under the John Mahama administration. She is also feminist and gender advocate. She has been married to her husband for the past 20 years.

Reading through the case filed by Tony Lithur at the High Court (Divorce And Matrimonial Division), the man is alleging the wife is a woman with “Violent and Cruel traits” among others.
Reading through the case filed, Tony Lithur claims the wife in short; beats him!. And also she is too aggressive towards other family members and house helps at home.

Tony Lithur also alleged that Madam Nana Oye Lithur cheats on him and has multiple s*xual partners and she does not attend to her marital duties. He explained that she is consumed with her public life than to attend to her home affairs.
He is requesting the court to not only divorce the marriage but also to ensure she does not get any of his properties because she did not contribute in any way to acquiring them.

“When the parties settled down to marriage, petitioner began to notice some unnerving character traits of the Respondent. While petitioner was aware Respondent was aggressive in approach to many things, nothing prepared him for what he later discovered of cruel and instinctively violent traits. She consistently exhibited physical violence and cruelty against every person that has ever lived with the parties, either as household staff or relative,”
