Governance isn’t about “macho”-Irbard Ibrahim tells Prez Mahama


Irbard Ibrahim,International Relations Expert and the security analyst has called on President Mahama to be more responsible in solving the nation’s economic crises than cruising on motorbikes.


President Mahama yesterday made the headlines by taking the decision to ride through the areas of Accra  on  a motorbike. He is reported to have rode through several neighborhoods in the capital.

It was a first time in recent years, a sitting Ghanaian President is known to have embarked on such adventure.Former President Rawlings, who is a pilot, was reportedly a fun of skillful plane displays, in his youthful days.

Ghanaians had diverse opinions in reaction to this motoring  adventure by the president.Some people thought ,it was necessary and a good move by the president to disguise and see for himself what is happening in the country especially Accra.

Some citizens also thought otherwise,said it was unnecessary.” Accra is in floods and all you could do is to be riding on a motorbike enjoying “? one asked.

Irbard Ibrahim seems to be sharing that same sentiment as he feels it was unnecessary for the president to have involved himself in such adventure, believes it’s a PR gimmick gone bad.

Speaking to Afia Sarpong o UTV’s late news said–“Anything can happen to you on the motorbike,a break can fail, it’s a machine ,he could have injured himself .” In this political season ,you don’t have to be involving yourself in such,God forbid–he can die, and that’s not what we want in this political moment.

He ended on the note that ,the president should focus on solving the economic and the several problems the country is facing as at now.–He said”if he wanted to show how youthful or macho he is –governance isn’t about macho,it should be about making sure people get jobs and solving the economic challenges the country is facing.”
