I Was Given A Gift Not A Bribe – Saani Daara Explains

One person who was caught on camera taking a bribe from the investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in his recently premiered GFA exposé video is the Director of Communication of the Ghana Football Association Saani Daara.

Saani Daara was given a bribe of GHS4000 to influence the technical handlers of the Black Stars to give Thomas Abbey a call-up to the Black Stars. From the video, Saani Daara ordered them to give the money to his assistant.

Ever since the corruption video was premiered it has sparked outrage among Ghanaians which has even led the Government of Ghana to dissolve the Ghana Football Association.

But reacting to the video, Saani Daara in an interview has revealed that the money that was given to him which was actually handed to his assistant on his instruction was not a bribe but a gift.

According to the former BBC Journalist, he was given that money for an advise he gave them and it had nothing to do with being bribed.

He added that he told them to give the money to his assistant because he might need it more than he does.

“Under normal circumstance, if you give me a gift I will take it but I said give it to this guy because he might be of need,” Saani Daara said
