Sarkodie accused of song theft

Rapper and CEO of Sarkcess music Sarkodie has become the latest musician to be accused of song theft.

For some time now, Lynx Entertainment signee Kuami Eugene has been the one who has always been caught sampling songs and copying lyrics but none expected Ghana’s prolific rapper Sarkodie to fall in that web.

Well, yesterday the rapper dropped another single off his yet-to-be-released album Black Love titled “Do you” which features Nigerian superstar Mr. Eazi but some few hours after the release it emerged that the song was actually stolen.

According to what we know, the song was actually recorded by American superstar Ne-yo somewhere in 2007 but 12 years down the line, Sarkodie believes he could do some magic and copied the song.

What even made people question Sarkodie is the fact that he copied the chorus from Ne-Yo with changing a word or a sentence.

Many people on social media are calling for the heads of Sarkodie and Mr. Eazi whom he featured on the song, but according to what we gathered Mr. Eazi can’t be blamed entirely unless it’s established if whether he wrote his part of the song or was given to him by Sarkodie.

Truthfully, this issue of copyright infringement is very unfortunate taking into consideration the caliber of Sarkodie in Ghana music including Africa, it’s, therefore, shameful for him to engage in music theft otherwise known as song sampling.
