Popular columnist and Entertainment critic/pundit Arnold Asamoah Baidoo says Multiple-award winning rapper, Sarkodie deserved the 21st edition of VGMA Artiste of the Year Award more than Kuami Eugene.
According to Arnold, the year under review, 2019, Sarkodie did well. He played more shows, the public appeal of Sarkodie was massive, he won international awards, he was able to generate conversations around his music etc.
Arnold Baidoo gave a whole list of the achievements of Sarkodie that make him believe he is straight ahead over Kuami Eugene who on the other hand did well but not as Sarkodie did.
Forming part of the team of Judges who cast their votes, the Popular columnist mentioned that he voted for Sarkodie because he feels the ‘guy’ deserves something more honorary for his hard work.
Explaining the awarding criteria, Arnold revealed that there are 3 ways by which an artist could win an award in a specific category. He said the VGMA used these criteria; General Public voting(40%), Academy Voting(30%) and Board Voting(30%).
Fast-forwarding his thoughts on The Artiste of the Year award winner, Arnold stated that looking at the bigger picture, Sarkodie did the most but couldn’t win based on other factors that might have informed the voting process.
