However , Sark’s inability to vote during the 2016,December 7 elections became a topic for discussion when music Justice Oteng (Wei Ye Oteng) mentioned that the rapper has no right to complain about governance.

Oteng argued that it was not enough for Sarkodie to record songs to chastise the ruling administration; he should have exercised his franchise.

“Making songs about crisis is not enough. You have to set example for your fans by going out to vote to show your patriotism…This is not only to Sarkodie but also some other celebrities who do not take part in election yet they complain when things don’t go well”, Oteng said on Pluzz FM’s morning show.

Sarkodie on Pluzz fm entertainment show hosted by Sammy Flex disclosed he could not vote because he was outside the country and stated several reasons;

“I was actually in the States because I had a contract from the time I went to Harvard till now. They booked way back and I could not say no at this point,” he said
