One artist who is seen as a tough character in the music industry is self-acclaimed dancehall king, Shatta Wale. Per his public persona and outlook, one can easily describe him as a hard nut to crack but according to Bulldog, his former manager, he is that emotional type who breaks down so easily.

According to Bulldog, he was shocked to see Shatta Wale cry uncontrollably when he was in cells for the alleged murder of Fennec Okyere.

In May 2014, Bulldog was arrested after investigations by the Homicide Unit of the Police Criminal Investigative Department (CID) pointing to him as the prime suspect of the murder of Kwaw Kesse’s manager Fennec Okyre.

In an interview with Lexis Bill on Drive Time on Joy FM, bulldog narrated that during his time behind bars, he realised how strong he was but only to start feeling down when Shatta Wale came crying.

“I actually realised that I was that strong. The only person who almost got me to be weak at that cell was Shatta Wale. The guy came there crying like a baby,” he said.

He recounted that when Shatta Wale came to visit, there were loud cheers from inmates and people at the police station, so he was prompted to go and meet him only to find the controversial artiste crying.

“He was the only one at the time who made me nearly shed tears.”

“I understood him. He has never seen me like that before behind bars…I think it was touching for him,” Bulldog said.

In January this year, an Accra Central District Court discharged him of the alleged murder of Fennec Okyere.

Although he has gained his freedom, it is Bulldog’s wish that “…the person who committed the murder will be caught. It is one of my greatest wishes and we are taking steps to ensure that happens”.

Fennec Okyere was killed at his Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex Road, Accra on Thursday, March 13, 2014, by unknown assailants. He died at age 31.
