The Most Prestigious Award, Artist Of The Year and Song Of The Year was the category everybody was eager to see who emerges as the winner. The nominees were Joe Mettle, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and the late Ebony Reigns.
Out of these five nominees, Ebony Reigns was the only absentee but her presence was felt anytime her name comes up in a category. One person who was also missing in action was self-acclaimed dancehall king Shatta Wale.

A close associate of the Shatta Movement Empire in a social media post revealed what multiple hits factory Shatta Wale was up to while other acts were at the AICC to receive or watch other acts sweep awards.
The photographer of Shatta Wale – Curtis Osei-Owusu tweeted a photo of ‘Champiooom’ sitting by his poolside going through his phone.

Earlier that day, Shatta wanted his fans to help him choose which pool he should swim in and later in the day he listed the number of pools he had to choose from.
