Six popular Ghanaian celebrities whose careers were completely ruined by politics

Ghanaian celebrities whose careers were completely ruined by politics

Politics in Africa as a whole and Ghana is no exception is a funny and an interesting venture particularly for the celebrities. Ghanaians are very passionate when it comes to politics. And it is also one area , you do not have to venture if you don’t have the heart.

And supporters of a particular party (Party A) see their opponent (Party B ) as their enemies. Why do you think people from the opposite sides of the political divide fight?..Typical political immaturity as they always fail to recognize the fact that , politics is an expression of different or diverse opinions in a growth of a country.

And as this year’s general elections is impending , majority of the “so-called celebs” were seen endorsing President Dramani Mahama of the NDC and Nana Akufo Addo of the NPP.

Talk of John Dumelo, a popular actor who has hopes of becoming president of Ghana one day or whom many have tagged as a John Mahama’s protege,MzBel who many argue needed the NDC to pick up her already toppling music career have endorsed John Mahama.

Actor/Comedian Kofi Adu known to many people as Agya Koo who is also not doing so well in his acting career has endorsed Nana Akufo Addo.

There is also Afia Schwarzenegger who have endorsed John Mahama. The list is endless especially in this years’ elections. takes you through celebrities whose careers or businesses are yet to wake up after their political endorsement, maybe some of the celebrities endorsing political figures in this year’s election need to think twice and learn from these celebrities experiences.

6.Jewel Ackah

Jewel Ackah is the celebrated musician who composed the NDC anthem, “Arise Arise’”In fact one of my favorite anthem of all time.

Jewel whose career was at an all time high at the time, suffered a lot with his association. He has never been able to get back to that level again. His music was shunned even on radio, his albums didn’t receive the same amount of acceptance they normally enjoy and his career just took a nose dive. In many interviews, he attributed his problem to the NDC affiliation. He tried to play it out by saying that he isn’t a member of the NDC but just an artiste who was contracted to record a song for the party. This didn’t work too as his career continued to head downhill.

5. Akorfa Edjeani Asiedu

Akorfa Edjeani Asiedu is one of the talented and pretty actress in Ghana. It’s been a while she acted was seen in any major movie. The last movie she acted ended in a fight with the producer,Leila Djansi on the movie “I Sing Of A Well.”

She owns a restaurant called Fali’s Hot Pot located in Kanda. She recently told Joy Fm that people no longer patronize her restaurant because of politics. This is what she said “I run a restaurant at Kanda, already people have tagged me with a political party, so I am already suffering. Members of the other party don’t come and eat at my place because they think I belong to this party. So, I think I am already suffering for that.”she concluded.
