Ghanaian senior journalist, Kwami Sefa Kayi is accusing the road contractor whose supposed carelessness resulted in the fatal accident which caused the sudden death of dancehall artist, Ebony Reigns- says he must be punished.
The veteran broadcaster who recently emerged as Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Journalist of the Year is calling for the said contractor to be brought to order if it is confirmed that his actions indeed caused the fatal accident on the late Thursday.
It was reported that the heap which was supposed to be used for the construction of the road had been left over a month ago at the Mankraso range of the Kumasi- Sunyani road, where the fatal accident exactly happened.
Ebony died in a motor crash at Bechem in the Brong Ahafo region during the wee hours of Friday. Two other occupants on board a Jeep with registration number AS 497—16 from Sunyani also died in the head-on collision.
A report narrating the incident revealed that Ebony’s driver may have suddenly encountered a small ridge of sand on the right side of the dark road at Mankranso and decided to dodge it.
However, his attempt to suddenly veer the bump brought the car into a direct collision with a VIP bus in the other lane.
Kwami Sefa Kayi speaking in an interview on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM immediately after the news broke, disclosed that it is about time contractors pay the debt for any deaths caused as a result of their carelessness.
“If indeed the road was under construction and they left a heap of sand there…then somebody must be made to pay for it,” Mr. Kwami told Super Morning Show host, Daniel Dadzie.
The host of Kokrokoo Morning Show on Peace FM defined the late sensational female artist as a “bubbly young woman who was full of life and lived life the way she wanted it”.
