‘Profane songs are good’ – Yaa Pono asserts

Popular Ghanaian rapper, Yaa Pono has stated emphatically that profane songs are good.

Profanity in our Ghanaian society is considered a sacred thing and sometimes apologies are demanded when one says it publicly but in Yaa Pono’s assertion, profane songs are sometimes good.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the rapper who is feared among his fellow rappers was of the view that it takes one with good writing ability and sometimes wordplay to cleverly do it.

“I do profane music. Sometimes profane music is good. You should be clever to be able to pursue profane music”, Yaa Pono said in the interview.

He also added that, although he likes to do profane songs, sometimes he tries to filter his lyrics since he has a huge audience.

Ponobiom is known for coining the name ‘Gbee Nabu’ in a diss track to Shatta Wale when they had their ‘beef’.

Ponobiom tore Shatta Wale apart in his infamous track, by likening his mouth size to that of a dog, hence; ‘GbeeNabu’ a term Shatta Wale has come to hate. He has since then been branded as ‘inventor’ and Shatta Wale’s tormenter.
