A student of Damongo Senior High School (SHS) in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region has been confirmed dead and 9 others are currently on admission at the Damongo Government Hospital following a reported outbreak of meningitis.
The deceased known as Nantomah Fadila, a first year home economics student from Tamale, collapsed this morning and was rushed to the hospital where she met her untimely death whiles on admission.

Reports indicate that the nine others also showed similar signs of the disease and were also rushed to the facility and are currently responding to treatment.
District Chief Executive (DCE) Saeed Muazu Jibreal who confirmed the incident has disclosed that surveillance has been stepped up on the campus whilst health authorities have equally been notified about the matter.
However, fear has gripped students of the school who are currently writing their end of term examination.
