Some students of Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) according to reports have sold one of their school gates to a scrap dealer in the neighborhood.

According to the authorities, they are yet to understand how the students were able to remove the gate before selling it to the said scrap dealer.

The source has it that the students went on a rampage a few weeks ago where they attacked teachers and vandalized school properties and they believe that was the period the metal gate was sold to the scrap dealer.

The reason for their protest was what they labeled as ill-treatment from a Senior House Master who confronted their colleague for wearing unapproved attire during preps.

One teacher who pleaded anonymity to the source indicated that the students had handed over the gate to the scrap dealer and had promised to come see him the next day in the morning; to negotiate a good price for their merchandise.

“They are technical guys so they knew how to take off the gate. They even attempted removing another gate but they couldn’t because it was cast in the concrete slab,” he shared.

The teacher emphatically stated that in all his 35 years of teaching in the Second Cycle Institution, he had never witnessed that level of insubordination from students.
