A couple of days ago, the news went viral that a policewoman on COVID Lockdown duties at Tema Newtown has been shot by a colleague soldier.
The policewoman who was shot was later Identified as Lance Corporal Francisca Tengey. The soldier who committed the deed was also identified as Able Seaman 1 (AB1) Oppong Bekoe of the Naval Headquarters, Burma Camp.
Mrs. Tengey was rushed to the Tema General Hospital for treatment. The soldier was recalled from operation by the military command. He is currently in detention whiles the authorities investigate the incident.
As to why Lance Corporal Francisca Tenge who is with the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police at Tema Regional Police Command was shot, a statement released did not mention.

Part of the statement reads:
“Lance Corporal Tengey has been treated and discharged by medics at the Tema General Hospital after sustaining two fearful gunshots”.
