The senior military officer Major Maxwell Mahama was slayed Monday, May 29, 2017, while on national assignment at Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region.
A state burial is being held at the State House in Accra to lay the soldier to eternal rest.

However, Veronica Bamford, mother of slain Soldier Maxwell Mahama has revealed that his killers have destroyed her after raising a son who was always there for her and the family.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever dream I will be burying my son in the weirdest way. Tell the killers they do not know what they have done to my son and her widow Barbara. Adam Mummy is proud of you. I wish I could trade places with you on that faithful day” She said this in a tribute in his honor.
