Things don’t look so well for Ghana’s biggest Awards show, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
In previous years, prior to awards, there was intense publicity. It is however different this year as the VGMA has not seen any sorts of promotion.

The Communication Officer at Charterhouse, George Quaye, commented on this, he said that one should get hints that all is not well with the organizers seeing that this year’s maiden event is not being promoted on billboards, radio, television and newspaper ads.
He said:
”Truth is, the government did mention they would support but as of now, nothing concrete has come through just yet. You don’t see giant billboards and hear loud advertising and publicity as you did with AFRIMA because we cannot afford it just yet but as I said, we are hopeful and still waiting patiently.”

He added;
”It’s been very difficult also to get media support, as most media houses expect some form of payment for any kind of support. Of course, the assumption is that the VGMA can afford it.”
He also added;
“Nevertheless we can assure the public that the event will still be phenomenal and sold out because the fans truly love VGMA and appreciate it for what it truly is: Ghana’s Grammys.”
That’s why VGMA isn’t being publicized this year.
