An upgraded version of the Ghana Cedi notes has been released by the Bank of Ghana(BoG).
The Bank of Ghana announced that it will issue clearer, security-enhanced banknotes of the Ghana Cedis on Monday, April 8 2019.
The notes were, however, signed on March 4, 2019, by the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Ernest Addison.

According to the BoG, the new Cedi notes will have enhanced security features aligned with improvements in the technological landscape.
The notes come with an improved durability and machine readability. This will strengthen the currency against counterfeits.
Some principal design elements of the current Cedi notes including the big six portrait, dimensions of the various denominations and colours will remain unchanged in the upgraded ones.
The new Cedi notes will begin circulation on May 6, 2019.
