“I am very sad we failed but as a leader I take responsibility” -Andre Ayew

The Captain of the senior national team Andre Dede Ayew has taken responsibility for his team’s elimination from the African Cup of Nations.

According to Dede Ayew, he was hopeful that Ghana would win the tournament but is sad and disappointed they couldn’t get to the next stage.

He added that the team did their best to win the game but unfortunately did not go their way.

The captain further stated that as the leader of the team, he takes full responsibility and that they will work harder to bounce back stronger.

“I am very sad and disappointed that we could not get to the next stage but we need to take heart and be stronger. The entire team gave everything but it did not go our way.

As a Ghanaian and as a leader no player is to be held responsible for this; I take all the responsibility and we are going to work hard and come back stronger.

If we have been kicked out at this stage it means we had a bad tournament and since we couldn’t achieve the mission we came here for, I will say we failed”, Dede Ayew disclosed.

The Black Stars were eliminated from the AFCON tournament after they were defeated by Tunisia in a penalty shoot-out.
