Ahead of the 21st edition of the VGMA weekend which will be held on the 28th and 29th of August, 2020, a throwback video of when Patapaa boycotted the event 2 years ago has resurfaced.
Patapaa at the 2018 edition of the VGMAs left the venue after Fancy Gadam was honoured with the award for most popular song of the year- an award Patapaa was highly expected to win.
After his One Corner song made waves all over Africa and in the States with celebrities doing reaction videos, the Swedru based artiste was expected to be the undisputed winner of the award.
However, Fancy Gadam won the award with his collaboration with rapper Sarkodie on the song Total Cheat.
In line with the title of Fancy’s song, many fans during and after the event claimed that Patapaa’s loss was a total cheat.
The “Scopatumana” crooner insinuated after the event that it was wrong for the organizers, Charter House, to have taken a backhander and given his award to Fancy Gadam.
