2 VIP buses slam into each other at Dompoase: drivers confirmed dead, passengers in serious condition

At least 34 persons have perished in a gory motor accident at Dompoase near Komenda in the Central Region of Ghana.

Information reaching Ghpage.com indicates, the accident occurred around midnight on Monday, January 13. The accident involved 2 VIP buses one said to be traveling one from Takoradi to Accra with registration number GR 5704-18 and the other from Accra heading towards Takoradi with registration number GN 3780-10.

According to eyewitness reports, the Takoradi-bound bus tried an overtaking but in the attempt crashed with the opposite bus. Both drivers died instantly with one of them having his head completely cut off. The rest of his body was trapped in the disfigured vehicle including a baby and two other children.

It took the travail of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) from Cape Coast to rescue some of the injured while the deformed bodies of the dead passengers were conveyed in vehicles to Cape Coast Hospital morgue. The injured passengers are receiving prompt medical attention at Cape Coast Hospital.
