Ghanaian hip-hop musician, Emmanuel Kwesi Danso Arthur Junior known in the music industry as Kwesi Arthur has disclosed in an interview that he had plans of studying psychology at the University of Ghana.

“I wanted to go to the University of Ghana to study psychology and hopefully study law after that but it didn’t go as planned. I owed school fees while I was in TEMASCO, so my result was blocked which did not enable me to go to the university”, he added.

He also revealed that he was really disturbed after that which led him to concentrate on his music.

Kwesi Arthur also said that he had to work at the recording studio to be able to fend for himself.

“I spoke with one studio owner in my area to train me record songs for other musicians and in return will clean the studio so he pays me something after every session. It took me a week to learn how to record. It wasn’t paying but it was enough to feed myself”, he revealed.

Kwesi Arthur had a really challenging childhood as there were days he had to wait for his mother to close business for the day before he and his siblings including his father could rest for the night.

“We were sleeping in my mom’s shop in Tema Community 5. We waited till she closed the shop at night so we sleep, together with my dad. We later moved to Ashiaman, then to Sakumono before moving in with my Grandma at Community 9”, he stated.

Kwesi Arthur also attributed his success in the music industry to the works of God because he wasn’t expecting his rise in the industry to be this fast.

“If it hadn’t been for God, I wouldn’t have been nominated for the 2018 BET Awards and I am blessed even though I did not win”.
