Jordan Ayew, the striker for the Black Stars, has admitted that the team was not good enough after exiting the group stages of AFCON 2021.

Jordan was a member of Ghana’s blunt frontline, which only scored one goal in their first two games against Morocco and Gabon.

The 10-man Black Stars team scored twice in their final match against Comoros, but their defence allowed three more goals, sealing their fate.

Jordan Ayew, who leaves Cameroon without a single goal, said after the game that the group stage exit was a wake-up call for the young squad and an experience they must learn from.

“We were not good enough, we have a young squad, it’s a wake-up call for everyone and if we don’t learn from this then I don’t know,” he is quoted as having said by GTV Sports.

This was the first time the Stars had exited an AFCON without a single victory, and the first time they had exited at the group stage since 2006.
