Election in Africa can never be conducted without the funny, serious, disappointing and weird news.Ghana has yet seen its fair share of weird news where women who are against the governance of the president have declared they won’t give birth again till he leaves office.
In the Assin Central Constituency of the Central Region, some women have declared they have suspended childbirth until President John Mahama is booted out of office.
The women cited the nose-dive economy under the Mahama-led administration as the reason for their decision. According to the women the the distressing economy has deprived them and their husbands of jobs.
‘When Nana Addo comes we will give birth…because we cannot take care of our children in Ghana under President Mahama, we cannot afford school fees under Mahama,’ one of the women said in an interview.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party visited Assin Central Constituency of the Central Region on Thursday, the last day of his three-day tour of the region. It was during this period the women made their bold declaration. The women have vowed to vote massively for the NPP to return to power in 2017.
‘Prices of fuel are always increased and this leads to increase in transportation fares…when Nana comes there will be more jobs so we will be able to cater for the children we plan to bear,’ another added.
As to whether the husbands of these women are in support of their vow is yet to be ascertain.
