Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has reacted to news which broke yesterday that Artiste & Repertoire (A&R) Manager at Zylofon Music, Willi Roi withheld requests for international collaboration with America superstars R.Kelly and Teddy Riley after they contacted him to help them do a song with him saying he is not surprised at Willi Roi’s action.
According to him, Willie Roi has done things in the past that suggest that he doesn’t like him do for him to block such opportunity, it comes as no surprise to him.
Reacting to Mr Logic’s revelation that shocked many yesterday, Stonebwoy noted that Mr Logic “did tell me [there was] something big…he did specify that when I came back home he was going to tell.”
According to Mr Logic’s disclosure, Willie Roi refused to pass on that information to Stonebwoy and his management because he felt Stonebwoy was a stubborn boy.
“He got a text message from the US. Teddy Riley and R. Kelly, it was two big American artistes wanted a collabo with Stonebwoy and then Willie told me, ‘you see this, I won’t pass this info to Stonebwoy because this guy is stubborn.’”
Speaking in an interview on Behind the Fame on Drive Time on Joy FM with Lexis Bill, Stonebwoy was asked why Willie Roi failed to pass on the information to him, he said: “if he is supposed to be a manager, why would you hold back such information from your artiste…something that will push your artiste.”
Meanwhile, Willi Roi in his reaction the above news revealed that the American artist mentioned above contacted him when they were looking at Zylofon portfolio and chose Stonebwoy as the possible artiste they want to feature.
When asked whether he informed any member of the Zylofon Music executives or board, he explained that “I negotiate and when the deal is ready, he put it on the board so unfortunately when the conversation came, Mr Logic was at my office so am even surprised he will go out there and talk about it when the matter is just the beginning of the process.”
According to him, “the deal is not dead, we are just waiting for them to give us schedule; some of them the producers want to come next month, they’ve bought their tickets and they are coming next month”
Asked whether he told Stonebwoy about the possible deal, he said: “you don’t talk to your artiste until the deal is set, when is set and then you say these guys are ready… that’s not how it’s done”
