You don’t need to smoke weed to be a good rapper – Dada Hafco tells Yaa Pono

‘Yebewu Nti’ hitmaker, Dada Hafco has aked Tema-based rapper Yaa Pono to put a stop to smoking weed before entering the studio to record.

Yaa Pono in a recent interview on Hitz FM revealed that the only thing that inspires him to hit the studio and get the vibe going is the weed.

According to the “Gbee Nabu” hitmaker, in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz Fm, he smokes but for a reason and his reason for smoking weed is that it is his major source of inspiration as it gives him more lyrics in the recording studio.

“My lyrical inspiration comes from smoking weed. I smoke before I enter the studio has but it’s not something I do daily. I only smoke when it’s time for recording,” Yaa Pono revealed.

Reacting to Yaa Pono’s claims of getting high before recording, Dada Hafco advised the rapper against attributing his exploits to the usage of weed but rather attribute that his talent is from God and not from any drug.

“People become slaves of substances. When they become the slave of substances then they attribute the success to them which may not be the truth,” he said in an interview on ‘This Is Gospel’ on Joy FM.

Terry Asare Boamah, better known as Dada Hafco, who said his encounter with Jesus Christ has positively influenced his life, stressed that these drugs don’t necessarily influence the creative process of artists as some have suggested.

“You have allowed yourself to be enslaved by that…Talent is from God. You need not to up it with any substance to be able to be a good creator,” he added.

“I don’t believe that you have to do something to put you in a certain mood…Maybe when you tell yourself that for a whole month you are not going to drink or smoke and create then you going to realise,” he stated.
