President of Togo
The president of Togo is Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé. He is also the son of Gnassingbé Eyadéma the former president of Togo. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé assumed office in 2005 after the death of his father.
Although the international community rejected his claims to the presidency, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé stood for the general elections in 2005 and won. He also contested and won the presidential elections in 2009 and 2015 and has been the president till date.
President of Ghana
Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo is the current president of Ghana and been the president since he won the 2016 presidential elections and was sworn in 2017. Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo is the son of Edward Akufo-Addo, the 2nd President of Ghana from August 1970 to January 1972.
Prior to winning the 2016 election, Akufo-Addo had lost 2 presidential elections in 2008 and 2012. President Akufo-Addo served as Attorney General and Minister for Foreign Affairs between 2001 and 2007 during the presidency of John Agyekum Kuffuor.
