Akufo-Addo should resign for failing to fight against galamsey – John Mahama

The former first gentleman of the land John Dramani Mahama hit at the current President of the land Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo saying he lost the fight against illegal mining popularly known as Galamsey.

According to the former President, if this was to happen elsewhere, Nana Addo would have resigned as the President of the land because he has failed to fulfil a promise he made after winning the 2016 Presidential elections.

“Indeed, if it were some other jurisdictions, he would have resigned by now. By his word, he put his presidency on the line”, John Mahama began.

He continued by adding that the more reason why Nana Addo is finding it difficult in prosecuting people engaged in this act is that the people involved in the act are close buddies of the President.

All their party executives have concessions and are doing illegal mining in forest reserves. It is a pity. But close to home, that is why he can’t deal with it.

“If you go to the districts, they talk about community mining, community mining it is the NPP executive and the DCEs who are doing community mining and so they are the ones doing what they are doing. And so how can you expect him to fight galamsey when his own people are involved in it“, he concluded.
