A final year student of Techiman Senior High School (SHS) has reportedly committed suicide after he was jilted by his girlfriend.
Reports from close friends suggest that the deceased student committed the crime after his girlfriend, a first-year SHS student, terminated their relationship following advice from her parents.

According to friends close to the two students, the deceased allegedly drunk a poisonous substance when the girl’s parent disapproved of their amorous relationship.
He was first rushed to the Opoku Agyeman Hospital but failing to make progress to stabilise him, doctors at the Hospital referred the victim to Holy Family hospital on Thursday where he died.

A friend of the deceased who narrated the ordeal said he is not surprised as he[the deceased] had earlier threatened to take his life if his girlfriend broke up with him.
“The girl’s mother told her that if she doesn’t end the relationship she [mother] will not take care of her. So the girl told the guy that her parents are asking her to stop the relationship so they should break up. So the guy said if she leaves him, he will take a medicine and kill himself,” the friend narrated.
