NPP primaries: I have enough dollars to pay delegates to vote for me – Alfred Obeng

Alfred Obeng Boateng, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the good people of Bibiani-Ahnwiaso-Bekwai in the Western North region, has defended his statements regarding his campaign finances for the NPP parliamentary primaries slated for February 2024.

He stated in a viral audio his willingness to provide financial support to delegates in his constituency to match any offers from his political contenders.

Mr. Obeng Boateng expressed his readiness to provide as much as GHC20,000 to each of the over 2000 delegates in the area, stating that he had ample financial resources in dollars to match or exceed any potential offers from his competitors.

Speaking in an interview on UTV News, Obeng-Boateng emphasized that he doesn’t have to declare his asset to the nation before running for a political office. According to the Member of Parliament, he made his money before becoming an MP.

He mentioned some of the properties he acquired before becoming a politician included a Bentley car he bought in 2011 after completing his first degree program in abroad at the age of 21.

Mr. Obeng-Boateng who refused to reveal the sources of his wealth said his comments earlier on were meant to scare his competitors who think they can defeat him with money.
