All co-curricular activities conducted by Senior High Schools (SHSs) outside of their campuses have been temporarily suspended by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS).
During the National Executive Council’s third quarter meeting on Thursday, an official announcement was made.
There are rumours that all extracurricular activities have been suspended since secondary schools don’t have enough funding.
“Most of the monies sent to the schools these days are for perishables and apart from the fact that it is inadequate for even the feeding of the students, it is equally misappropriation of funds if we should continuously use such monies for things they are not intended for,” a resolution released by CHASS said.
“We shall do the needful when monies for the specific programs are lodged into our accounts.”
Due to the current situation, all sporting events, cultural events, the National Science and Maths Quiz, and the Sharks Quiz have been cancelled.
To avoid any misunderstandings on the position taken by CHASS, the Regional chairmen are in communication with their regional directors and alumni.
