Ghanaian film producer Socrate Sarfo has bemoaned the rate of begging and calls for financial help by some veterans in the creative industry.
His comments come on the back of the recent social media brouhaha involving popularly actor Psalm Adjetefio over his needless entitlement and penchant for soliciting funds to survive despite his track record in acting.
Speaking in an interview sighted by GHPage, Socrate Safo contended that there’s money in the creative industry but only unwise creatives who don’t make the best out of their hay days end up as beggars in their old age.
He intimated that the trend of veterans begging on social media and relying on breadcrumbs from people’s kitchens to some extent has made the creative industry unattractive to the young ones who look up to them.
Although Socrate admitted that some unforeseen circumstances may have rendered some entertainment personalities paupers, he explained that if one is wise they will make good use of the chances that come their way.
He then used some people who were just errand boys at his time as examples applauding them for being wise and making something meaningful from the creative industry because there’s money there and not otherwise as others say.
