The Alpha Hour / Grace Mountain Ministries, headed by Pastor Elvis Agyemang, the Chief Alpharian has donated assorted equipment to the Korle Bu teaching hospital to improve healthcare delivery. The equipment worth GHS 500,000 include an anaesthesia machine, six trolleys and seven beds.
Lady Rev Mercy Agyemang, the wife of astute Man of God, led a team of pastors and leaders of the church to present the donation to the Hospital. She disclosed that many years ago, her father in-law was rushed to the hospital’s emergency but could not be admitted due to the unavailability of a bed. She noted that the Church then took a decision to donate to the hospital to improve the bed situation.
The Chief Executive of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah who led the management team to receive the donation expressed the profound gratitude of the hospital to the church for the gesture.
Dr Ampomah commended Pastor Agyemang, the leadership and members of the church for not merely watching but helping to address some of the challenges of the hospital. He also noted that the donation will improve Korle Bu’s equipment stock positively as it celebrates its 100 years anniversary.
Dr. Frederick Kwarteng, the Head of Accident and Emergency Department as well as the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department stated that the hospital has been under pressure as a result of patients’ complaints of inadequate beds in the emergency.
He said there are always an overwhelming number of referrals which the Emergency could not admit, adding that this usually resulted in the ‘No bed syndrome’. He said the hospital and government alone cannot provide all the resources needed to cater for patients and therefore welcomes support from the corporate bodies and individuals.
Some Directors who were present for the donation were the Director of Medical Affairs, Dr Frank Owusu Sekyere; Director of Finance, Mr. James Abrah; Deputy Director of PPME and Executive Assistant to the CEO, Mrs Bernice Ofosu; Head of Stores, Mr Sylvester Badohu and the Head of Public Relations, Mr Mustapha Salifu.
