The Ghana Police Service has arrested a Japanese national named Morikawa Hikawu upon his arrival in the country following a request by INTERPOL Tokyo.
Japanese authorities had revoked his passport and declared him wanted.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the suspect was put before court and was remanded into lawful custody awaiting his repatriation to Japan.
In a statement, the law enforcement agency said the INTERPOL Unit is working with the Ghana Immigration Service, INTERPOL Tokyo and the Japanese Embassy in Ghana for his removal.
“We would like to assure the public that the Ghana Police Service will continue to use due process to deepen our regional and international law enforcement cooperation,” parts of the statement read.
