Who is the biggest YouTuber in Ghana and how much do they make monthly?

Is Wode Maya the biggest YouTube in Ghana?

Many a time I’ve heard and seen the question, who is the biggest YouTuber in Ghana and is there is one, how much does the person earns monthly from their hustle. After thorough and painstaking research, you are about to get filled with facts as you read along.

Wode Maya as affectionately called is birth with a real name of Kobina Ackon. He is a trained aeronautical engineer and arguably the biggest YouTuber from Ghana.

He is best known for his tourism-focused videos. Growing up from a village in Kofikrom in the western region of Ghana, Wode Maya, had the opportunity to travel to China to further his studies which is where he coined the name ‘Wode Maya, which means “my mother” in the Chinese language.

The popular YouTuber was born on November 8, 1990.

In 2012, Wode Maya will leave the shores of Ghana after finishing his secondary school education to pursue further studies in China.
He was admitted into Shenyang Aerospace University to study Aeronautical Engineering.

In an interview with face2faceafrica, he disclosed his worst moment of anti-Black discrimination as “when he set out looking for a job and was denied just because he was Black”.

The derogatory comments coupled with incidents of discrimination against him in public buses and trains compelled him to start a YouTube channel to share his experiences as a Black man living in China.

Having left China with a loan from friends to pursue his passions, Wode Maya first traveled to about five African countries sharing his travel experiences and each country’s culture.

His YouTube channel, which started off as a bridge between Africa and Asia, has grown to be the welcome train to the African diaspora, he says on his website.

He has travelled to 17 countries of Africa to feature different kinds of companies and people and has himself been featured by many top YouTubers all around the continent.

Today, with over 1.1 million subscribers, Ackon says he is raking in anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000 monthly from his YouTube channel making him the biggest in the country.

Most of his revenue comes from YouTube advertisements as well as from charging up to $10,000 a pop to profile Africa’s brightest entrepreneurs. Along the way, he has also picked up some invaluable pearls of wisdom from them.

Maya’s net worth is estimated to be in the range of $3million.

His next milestone is to interview Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, on how he built his wealth. He also wants his channel to only push out positive African narratives to the world. For now, he certainly has the world’s attention.

So now, when someone asks you who the biggest YouTuber and how much the person earns in a month, think not long before answering.
