Wife kills husband for stealing children’s school fees to buy alcohol

Ugandan police have arrested a woman for allegedly killing her husband following a domestic quarrel about money.

According to a police report published, Juliet Chelangat aged 43, killed Stephen Namawangala, 40, after the two differed over $52.

Chelangat killed her husband after he allegedly stole her cash savings and failed to refund. Chelangat is said to have withdrawn $52 from a Savings Group to pay school fees for her children.

However, Namawangala stole the money and used it on alcohol, but when confronted, he promised to reimburse the funds. A vicious fight broke out between the two after the husband failed to return the money as earlier promised.

During the violent fight, Chelangat pushed her husband to the ground, and he lost consciousness before he died while being taken to Kpchorwa Hospital.

“At around 11pm, they developed a quarrel which led to a fight, where the suspect pushed her husband to the ground and he became unconscious.

He died while being rushed to Kapchorwa Hospital. The suspect was arrested and detained in custody for murder,” police report read.
