One of the veteran Ghanaian rappers Komfo Kwadee is of the view that the Dancehall genre which has now taken over the music industry has no message and can’t address some national issues.
According to him, Ghanaians are too proud of copying something which is not theirs and in the process neglect what is theirs which is Highlife. But here likes the case, the big acts in the country Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and co are all doing Dancehall with some up and coming acts also copying.

“Are we proud as Ghanaians to be copying a genre like Dancehall music which has no message? We have so many issues in the country we can address with our music but a genre like Dancehall will never tackle such issues,” he said.
Okomfour Kwadee stressed that the foreign influence in our music is becoming too much and it is high time Ghanaian musicians considered going back to our roots to reinvent Highlife music genre
“Let’s get the African rhythm in our songs. Let’s tell our stories in our music as I did with my songs. We have great talents in Ghana but it’s sad we are copying from the foreign world,” .
