You deserve the troll you received-Open letter from Die hard Sarkodie Fan

One of the most popular die-hard fans of Ghanaian rap king, Sarkodie that we now is Donald Sarpong. As far as it could remember, Donald is one person who defends Sarkodie with his last breath.

But it appears Donald Sarpong is not entirely happy with how his champion has become so relax and complacent in recent years. He has therefore written King Sark an open letter.

In the letter which he shared on his social media handles, Donald blamed Sarkodie for the trolls he has received ever since Shatta Wale and Beyonce collaboration came public.

Donald believes that Sarkodie has taken thing for granted as such he is still stuck in Ghana trying to please people who will never be impressed with his kind heart and good gestures.

He called on Sarkodie to stop being the godfather of the music industry because the industry has proven time without number that they do not need him to be who he is desperate to be.

Open Letter to Sarkodie

Dear King Sark,

I guess the past few days has been very stressful for you & your team looking at the number of trolls & hate that came your way after the announcement of the Beyonce/Shatta Wale collabo. But na who cause am? I blame you & your team for that. Do you think the trolls would’ve reached such alarming levels if one of your songs was on the charts in Australia or Norway?

At your level, it wouldn’t be out of place if you were touring African countries at least looking at how you were able to break into the Nigerian market with your twi rap. But you’re still stuck in GH trying to please people who’re simply not impressed with your work over the years.

I know you have a good heart but that alone doesn’t cut it in this competitive space. You need to be up & doing to be relevant. It hurts to do things with good intentions but get hate for it. Eg. Strongman’s signing and featuring on other GH artist’s songs to help grow their fanbases.

Once you get to the top and stay there for a very long time you naturally attract haters who think you’re blocking the shine of their favorites so they’ll do everything to take you off. So why are you still giving them the opportunity to crush you? Stop trying to be the godfather of the industry because they don’t care. Focus on your own growth first.

With regards to the Shatta Wale issue, I may be ignorant but in my opinion, he knows people who know other people in high places and he took his opportunity when it came because prior to this episode he got trolled severally for being a local champion.

You also have the same links or even better but you don’t use yours at all. Off the top of my head, you have friends Mr. Eazi & Fuse ODG who regard you a lot and have a lot of network across the globe.

Fuse Odg brought Ed Sheeran (One of the biggest music stars in the world currently)to Ghana for about 2 solid weeks. Where were you? Fuse could’ve linked you to him and probably you would’ve ended up on his current collaboration album & that would’ve put the trolls to shame and given you more exposure and revenue.

He brought Stefflondon and other UK stars this year for a show and you were there.Did you establish any contacts with them?I doubt it.

Yesterday he performed at the AFCON final closing ceremony although he doesn’t have a hit song trending on the continent but he still made it happen. That should tell you the extent of his influence.

Mr. Eazi has been on big global platforms and knows so many people and you know him personally. He’s friends with one of the biggest latin /global stars J Balvin. He’s the same person who sent Guilty Beatz to Coachella Festival and helped the likes of Kwesi Arthur get on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio with Ebro.

Recently your own friend Stonebwoy was also there. The UK based Ghanaian rapper Stormzy headlined Glastonbury Festival recently and you know each other. You could’ve been there too. These are not the only ones, there are plenty of such influential people in Ghana who are willing to help you but have you shown interest?

I have personally seen many of your die-hard fans trying to get some deals/collaborations for you but I hardly see any interest from your side. I don’t think it’s a financial issue because you can do it.

Last year so many global stars were in town including Liam Payne former One Direction member & Hollywood actor Idris Elba who was also at your concert, did you try linking up with him? I don’t know.

As for your other Nigerian artiste friends they’re plenty. Ice Prince, Runtown, Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Patoranking, Tiwa Savage, DJ Cuppy, etc.? Have you asked them for assistance about how they make it happen on the global scene.

I don’t know but I doubt it. I don’t buy the excuse that you’re a rapper and they’re singers. U’ve always been a rapper but you’ve been on the same stages with them for all these years.

You shouldn’t be satisfied with the accolades here because you love Ghana. A lot of people don’t like you like that because of your success. I may be wrong in all of this but you can do better. You know the best form of revenge is a success.

It’s not too late to wake up because I feel you’ve relaxed too much & it’s threatening the growth of your career and I see a lot of your fans feel the same. Lack of growth will only lead to discouragement which will eventually take a lot of the passionate people away from your camp and you know the results.

Thank you

Your bleeding fan,
Donald.
