Meet Sunil Waghmare; The current singathon record holder
Well-known Indian singer, Sunil Waghmare officially holds the Guinness World Record of non-stop singing Marathon of 105 hours .
Sunil Waghmare, a noted singer was honoured by his city for registering his name in Guinness world record for longest singing.
He started singing at the age of 14 years. Waghmare has completed basic 3 classes in Music. According to him, his guru, Bhaskarrao Moroney thought him completely everything and he never looked back.
How did Sunil Waghmare achieve his Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon?
To start his singathon journey, Waghmare started singing at 11am on Monday. He dedicated his singing marathon to the singing legendย Mohammad Rafi.

His playlist includes most songs of Rafi though it also had popular hits of masters like Mukesh, Hemant Kumar and Kishore Kumar. He was poised to sing over 900 songs if he was to achieve the target.
The record attempt started at 11.06 am on March 3, with a variety of popular Indian songs being sung. No song was repeated within a 4 hour period. The attempt ended on the evening of March 7 after which Mr Waghmare joined in with a sing song with his supporters.
Sunil Waghmare’s singathon record is currently at stake as Afua Asantewaa Aduonum from Ghana is currently journeying on to break it.
Afua started her challenge on 24th December, 2023, taking inspiration from Hilda Baci from Nigerian. She has as at the publication of this article achieved 60 hours and still counting.
