This year’s Ahobaakese festival celebrated by the people of Gomoa Fetteh, a fishing and farming community in the Gomoa East District was held from the 23rd of August to 2nd September.

The festival each year is well attended and this year wasn’t an exception. At the center of the Ahobaakese festival is the controversial Atopa Dance.

The Atopa Dance took a center stage and it was well danced by the inhabitants of the Gomoa Fetteh despite the controversies that surround it.

Although many have criticised the Atop Dance festival for being overly sexual, the chief of Gomao Fetteh Nana Abor Yamoah II and his elders rubbished the critics revealing that it’s a form of exercise of the body and it releases stress.
