The NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2020 General Elections, John Dramani Mahama is on the promising spree.

Very determined to come back into the office after staying in opposition for 4 years is warming the hearts of electorates with his promises.

John Mahama as part of his campaign strategies to come back into power and knowing well how some Ghanaians easily fall for sugar-coated promises has given another ‘sweet one’.

In a tweet by the NDC flag-bearer, he has stated that he has no plans of annulling the Free SHS policy instituted by the NPP under President Nana Akufo-Addo.

The Free SHS policy was one of the strong campaign promises by the NPP during the 2016 election period that secured them the massive votes to have their smooth way into power.

In the same electioneering period, the NDC on countless times taunted the NPP for cooking up such a policy that can never work in the country.

Then, when they were in power, the National Democratic Congress-NDC led by John Dramani Mahama said the Free SHS policy which the NPP professed at that time was not feasible and doable.

Knowing how to go about it and how it could bring them into power, the NPP regardless went on preaching the good news to the electorates, explaining how this policy will be beneficial to the average Ghanaian.

Fast Forward, after the 2016 December polls, Ghana decided to try this new policy by the NPP.

Fours years down the line Ghanaians have come to the realization how it has helped them, though it later came with the double-track system.

Now, in 2020 the NDC led by their able presidential candidate has seen the importance of the Free SHS policy and therefore wants to take up and use as one of their campaign promises to get into power.

In John Mahama’s tweet, he said his only concern about the Free SHS policy is how it was not implemented properly and in effect created an additional burden on parents.

Therefore if voted into power he will effectively and properly implement it and ease the burden on parents.

He wrote; “Free SHS has come to stay. If anyone comes to you that I, John Mahama, the son of E.A. Mahama is going to cancel FREE SHS, tell that person he or she is a bloody liar. What I am against is the poor implementation that has put a lot of burden of parents”.
