The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) is a national quiz competition for Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country.

Before a school can compete at the national level, it must first compete at the district, zonal, and regional levels and earn a significant number of points to represent the school.

Aside from the trolls and bragging rights that characterize the competition, the goal of the competition is to put these young students’ minds to the test in an effort to promote the study of Science, Mathematics, and Technology.

The much-touted competition’s history began in 1994, with Prempeh College being the first school to walk away with the trophy. Presec Legon, Persco, and Mfantispim School, on the other hand, have come a long way.

Presec Legon has the most wins with six, followed by Prempeh with five and Persco with three.

Prempeh College won the 2021 NSMQ on Friday, November 26, after defeating Presec Legon and Keta Senior High Technical School.
