Takoradi-based musician Kofi Kinaata speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based radio station, Luv FM, with host DJ Reuben declared himself the real Artiste Of The Year.

According to the reigning Songwriter of the Year, he’s very much aware that he was more deserving of the much-hankered award.

Kofi Kinaata in full certainty mentioned that his works and the songs he released in the year under review, 2019 did massively well and looking at how his songs gained massive airplay it was clear for him to have won.

The ‘Behind The Scenes’ crooner stated boldly that even Kuami Eugene knows he should win over him because the records are very clear. He stressed that he feels very disappointed for not coming out as the victor.

In the exact words of Kofi Kinaata, he said; “I am the true Artiste Of The Year and I believe Kuami Eugene knows it.

I know everybody knew I was going to win it and I was confident too. I actually wanted to win everything and I am so disappointed for not having this one. Majority of Ghanaians will say is Kofi Kinaata but aside the judges, anything can happen

Social media, following the crowning of Kuami Eugene as the Artiste of the Year at the just-ended 21st Edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards-VGMA, has garnered a massive conversation.

A fraction of the populace are of the view that Kuami Eugene has worked hard over the years hence deserves the honour bestowed on him as Artiste of the year.

Whereas the other section believes the he[Kuami Eugene] is undeserving of the awards, it should been either Sarkodie or Kofi Kinaata winning.

His fans have also refuted these claims vehemently with facts and figures to back their contention.

Kofi Kinaata won three awards at the VGMA 21. He bagged the Songwriter of the Year award,  Highlife song of the Year award and Vodafone Popular song of the Year.
