Ghana Music Rights Organisation known for short as GHAMRO which an institution set aside to pay royalties of artistes has over the years been blasted by some musicians over the amount of money they receive as royalties after some period of time.
Rapper and businessman Desmond Blackmore aka D-Black has become the latest person to vent his anger at the institution.
In an interview with Dr. Pounds on Accra-based Hitz FM, the monies that are paid to musicians as royalties can’t even buy a bottle of champagne at his Onyx night club.

According to him, someone from GHAMRO called him in 2016 to tell him that all A artistes in the country have qualified to get royalties of GH600 and as such since he is an A list musician he should send his mobile money number so the amount could be paid to him.
“In 2016 someone called me from there and told me all the A list artiste and producers had 600 cedis each with them so I should send my mobile money number,” he explained.
He also added that B listed artistes were paid 450 cedis.
He questioned the rationale behind the A and B list artiste been made by GHAMRO but he was told that is how the system is.
“That means if Sarkodie releases 10 songs in a year and I don’t, we are all A list artistes we still get the same amount of money, it does not make sense,” he told Dr Pounds.
The rapper revealed he does not take money from the organization but focuses on his companies, his music and how he can make money from that by himself.
