A home fire destroyed the home of a Basic School Headmaster at Gomoa Budumburam in the Gomoa East District, as well as his wife and five children.
Robert Assan Donkoh, 60, and his family were killed in a fire that broke out in a teachers bungalow in Big Apple, a Gomoa Buduburam suburb.
According to residents, the fire began around 5:30 a.m. Friday morning, and efforts to extinguish it were futile.
Eyewitness Isaah Bentley said that due to the nature of the building, they were unable to assist the family.
Meanwhile, Gomoa Buduburam, Assistant Fire Officer in Charge of Operations, ADO2 Patrick Banwa, who arrived on the scene with his team, stated that investigations into the cause of the fire have begun.
He advised residents to turn off any electrical devices that were not in use.
Lot Arthur, the Assemblyman for Buduburam Electoral Area, revealed that the incident was the third in a series and urged the government to adequately resource the Buduburam Fire Station in order to effectively combat fire outbreaks in the area.
The deceased’s bodies were later deposited at the Winneba Trauma and Special Hospital Mortuary.
