Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed that his penalty miss against Uruguay in 2010 World Cup Quarter Finals keeps haunting him anytime he’s alone.

According to him, he gets flashbacks of sad the moment and makes him feel disappointed for letting the whole continent of Africa down because Africans threw their support behind Ghana and he was expected to do the continent proud by scoring from the spot kick and kicking Uruguay out which would have been a record as the first African country to reach the semi-finals of a FIFA organised World Cup.

Although Asamoah Gyan says memories of the miss will continue to scare him, he, however, indicated that he takes solace in the fact that he could pick himself up scored during the penalty shootout after the game had ended in a draw.

Asamoah Gyan who was speaking to the BBC said Ghana’s inability to qualify for this year’s World Cup has been a blow to both players and the citizens of the country.

He used the opportunity to call for support for African teams representing at the World Cup because they are representing the whole continent.
