We reported that one of Kumawood comic actors, Kwaku Manu, had been arrested by the Ejisu Police in the Ashanti Region.
Our initial reports suggested the award-winning comic actor was arrested for allegedly marketing a fruit drink, ‘Drop Fruit Juice’, without the appropriate permit.

But the new information reaching us indicates that Kwaku Manu’s arrest was more of an abuse of power by one police personnel than the actor flouting any laws.
According to another actor known in Kumawood as Kyenkyinaa Twan who was at the scene with Kwaku Manu, they were selling by the roadside in Ejisu when one police officer stationed at Ejisu identified as Commander 1 Million confronted them about where they were selling.

Speaking in an interview on Kumasi FM, Kyenkyinaa Twan disclosed that the officer led the team to Ejisu police station to produce their license which they did and was directed to go and continue selling their products.
After that, Commander 1 Million chased them back to where they were selling accusing Kwaku Manu of insulting and disrespecting him. He then arrested Kwaku Manu but the rest of them(actors) followed to the station.
He added that when they got to the station, Kwaku Manu was beaten with the butt of an AK47 gun the police officer was holding. He was later stripped and placed behind bars.
Meanwhile, Kwaku Manu has however been released following the intervention of the Queenmother of Ejisu.
Kwaku Manu is one of Kumawood’s most sought-after actors having starred in over 100 Kumawood-produced movies. He has starred in movies alongside other actors and actresses like Kwadwo Nkansah, Akrobeto and Nana Ama McBrown.
