A social media user has in his own way justified the recent xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa particularly Nigerians.

According to the Instagram user who goes by the handle mr.demmy, the Nigerian immigrants come into South Africa with flashy lifestyle and expensive cars and use their monies to woo the local South African women much to the displeasure of the South African men which has sown the seed of jealousy which has brought forth the recent xenophobic attacks.

He wrote;

“…Nigerians like to overdo somethings, they will go to a foreign land  and oppress the citizens with very expensive cars and lifestyles, date their girls and spoil them with money to the extent they won’t want to date their own people again all these will make the true citizens jealous. Jealousy will always bring hatred.”

Members of the public wailed when gory photos and videos of properties of foreign nationals being destroyed, shops being looted and foreigners being attacked surfaced online.

This inhumane incident sparked a massive protest in Nigeria as protesters stormed South African owned businesses such as MTN and Shoprite branches across Nigeria looting wares and vandalizing their facilities.

MTN and Shoprite have temporarily closed down their outlets in Nigeria over a fear of further attacks.
