I got paid GHc 50 for the movie that shot me to fame – Kumawood actor

Diminutive Kumawood actor Wayoosi real name Joseph Nana Kofi Osei has revealed that he got GHc50 as payment for the movie that shot him to fame some years ago.

Wayoosi in an interview on Enter Chat stated that him, the amount he received for his service that time was more than enough but did enjoy his new find love, acting because he found himself in the midst of very popular and respected actors.

He went on to reveal that his senior colleague Agya Koo was given GHc 200 for his role in the same movie and that was the highest money paid to any of the cast of that movie.

“My first time on a movie set, acting with top actors like Agya Koo, Santo, Joojo Robertson, Master Richard and Suzzy Williams was in a movie titled ‘Awieye’. I was dumbfounded and a bit nervous seeing these actors but I mastered courage and played my role very well. All the actors clapped for me after my role on set.”

On how he came by his name Wayoosi, he said he was approached by Master Richard to feature in his “Dada Boat” TV series and that was where he had the name from.

“Master Richard approached me to feature in his popular television series, Dada Boat. So through Master Richard and featuring in Dada Boat TV series, I got the name WAYOOSI. I received GhC50.00 as pay for the role I played in ‘Ma Tricki’ movie… Agya Koo also received GhC200.00 for that same movie.”
