The ongoing campaign against drug abuse by GhOne and Nana Aba Anamoah is really exposing us to some sad story of addicts who have moved from having everything to losing everything due to their addiction to hard drugs.
A Ghanaian “trotro” mate by name Alex has shared his sad story of how he lost his job as a physiotherapist in one of the hospitals in the country due to his addiction to hard drugs such as Tramadol, Valium etc.
Sharing his sad story with GHOne news, Alex stated that he took the hard drugs to make him go higher so he could do some things. He said: “I take the hard drugs so I can get high and do things”.
He further went on to say that due to his addiction to hard drugs he has lost self-respect and has also be neglected by his own families and friends who see him to be a burden on them.
Alex, however, indicated that he was ready to undergo a rehabilitation therapy so he can be able to get himself back on track.
There is a growing trend of Tramadol abuse among Ghanaian youth in some parts of the country. Recent surveys have shown over 19,000 of youth died through the abuse of the drug last year and the number is likely to increase if preventive measures are not put in place.
