Some few weeks ago, it was reported that a young lady needed immediate healthcare to remove a tumor that had affected her eyes after it was diagnosed to be Rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer that develops from skeletal muscle cells.

The young lady identified as 19-years-old Bernice Owusu who is a student of one of the Senior High School in the country and her parents could not afford treatment for though her eyes had swollen and were nearly popping out of her head and had to rely on the media.

According to reports we picked up on social media, Bernice who was about to graduate from SHS had woken up one day feeling an unusual headache which affected her eyes prior to her WASSCE.

It went on to say after some first aid medications by her parents, Bernice went write her exams but came back home when she realized her situation was not improving.

She was later sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where scans revealed that she had cancer. With her parents unable to pay for the cost of treatment, Bernice’s condition kept worsening and it took the intervention of some good samaritans to help raise funds for her initial treatment.

According to one of the helpers in an interview on  TV Africa Wednesday, July 31, 2019, she got to know about Bernice’s plight through an accountant in the same SHS with Bernice and she decided to offer her little help.

A GoFundMe account was also opened to get donations from across the world.

The latest update to donors on the account indicated that the cancer had spread and Bernice needed to undergo chemotherapy starting August 6, 2019, before the surgery.

But things didn’t go as planned as Bernice reportedly passed away before the start of the chemo treatment.
